The modification provided in this note enables you to assign a separate production process to each production order. As a result, the rollup of price differences using the multilevel price determination is carried out specifically for the order.

Reason and Prerequisites
Due to the design of the actual costing, the update and the revaluation of goods movements is carried out on the basis of summarized data. For the "Production" process category, different production orders are therefore linked to the same production process. The goods movements for orders that are attached to the same production process are then updated as summarized data in the actual update.
By default, the production process differentiates according to the characteristics
- Material, plant,
and - if a detailed controlling level is selected (transaction CKMLMV_CA) - according to one of the following characteristics combinations:
- Production plant/planning plant
- Production plant/planning plant/production version
- Production plant/planning plant/BOM/routing
However, you may require more options. You may require a differentiator that is not recognized by the production process, such as the following valuation type: A production process is assigned to two orders that produce the same product in different valuation types (B1 and B2). If the components are also valuated separately, the following applies: In the multilevel price determination, price variances of the component with valuation type B1 are also assigned to the product with valuation type B2, and vice versa. You may not require this in some cases.
Solution
The modification provided in this note enables you to assign a separate production process to each production order. As a result, goods movements for different orders are updated to different production processes. Therefore, the movements can be revaluated specifically for the order.
Note the following: This modification does not reflect the logic of the actual costing because the rollup of the difference is now carried out specifically for each line item (that is, separately for each order). The actual costing is usually carried out on the basis of summarized data.
According to the scenario, the multilevel price determination may be either optimized or affected in a negative way by the modification:
Scenario 1: Several orders produce the same material segment in a period.
In this case, the actual BOM of this material segment is increased significantly due to the modification. The system generates an individual process node for each order. The components and activities that have been used for this order are listed under this process node.
An increase of this type of the BOM may lead to severe performance problems or internal memory overflows in the multilevel price determination.
We therefore do not recommend that you use the modification in this scenario.
Scenario 2: Each order produces an individual material segment (for example, in the individual batch valuation).
In this case, the actual BOM of this material segment is simplified by the modification: Instead of a
central process node to which different material segments are attached, each material segment now receives an individual process to which only the components and activities of the relevant order are attached.
In this case, the modification has a positive effect on the performance of the multilevel price determination.
These examples show that a precise check may sometimes be required. We therefore recommend that you carry out thorough testing using data that is similar to the data used in a production system.
